Whisky:               Bowmore 1989 c/n 1092

Colour:                Pale gold/straw

Nose:                   Salty. Phenolic with hints of iodine, wood smoke and peat reek.

Palate:                 Masses of flavour.  Hot smoked salmon and peaty qualities.

Conclusions:        A fantastic Islay whisky from one of the true greats.

 

 

Whisky:               Bowmore 1989 c/n 1093

Colour:                Pale gold/straw

Nose:                   Fresh and invigorating.  Peat reek with seaweed and a hint of treacle.  Fragrant.

Palate:                 Great balance of peat, burning embers and seaweed.  Good firm acidity.  Very embracing.

Conclusions:        Big and bold but with great finesse.

 

 

Whisky:               Caperdonich 1980 c/n 7338

Colour:                Pale gold with yellow rim

Nose:                   Fragrant and aromatic.  Freshly cut flowers, honeysuckle.

Palate:                 Well balanced, fresh and fruity.  Heather, honey and poached pears.

Conclusions:        Extremely fragrant with lots of flowery essence shining through.

 

 

Whisky:               Glencadam 1990 c/n 1001

Colour:                Pale straw

Nose:                   Sweet and floral.  Sugar coated almonds.

Palate:                 Robust and complex fruit flavours.  Hints of liquorice with a spicy tail.

Conclusions:        A sweetish style that is very easy drinking.

 

 

Whisky:               Glenglassaugh 1976 c/n 2371

Colour:                Very pale straw.  Green tinge.

Nose:                   Complex.  Coffee mocha aromas with hints of aniseed.

Palate:                 Lovely weight, coffee and walnuts.  Very smooth and warming.  Well rounded with  great length.

Conclusions:        A very individual whisky.  Extremely appetising.

 

 

Whisky:               Linkwood 1985 c/n 4543 

Colour:                Deep gold with amber traces.

Nose:                   Very rich and full.  Toffee sauce, rich vanilla chocolate.

Palate:                 Very chocolaty.  Stick toffee pudding.  Touch of leather.  Very long and warming.

Conclusions:        Rich, heavyweight.  A real delight to savour.

 

 

Whisky:               Tullibardine 1990 c/n 6099          

Colour:                Full gold with a light orange glow.

Nose:                   Rich toffeed fruit, sultanas and stewed apples.  Nice and toasty.

Palate:                 Nutty, with elements of orange rind and spiced cloves.

Conclusions:        Great depth of flavour with well defined fruity backbone.
